WEEK of APRIL 13, 2020 (Pt.1)

Hi there, Designers!

 As we start our amended fourth quarter, we're going to revisit some basics, that, with a little creativity, could become some interesting images during the last weeks of the year. 
These are going to be basic challenges that you can take however far you'd like to go. 
Sure, we're stifled a bit without the full Adobe Suite, but I've always believed that if you can make something out of very little, well...maybe that's a kind of genius. Let's make it so. 

 Our break has been significantly long, and a bit brain-scrambling, so let's take today to review a couple things, and look at something new.

 We started the semester with the following video. Go ahead, and watch it again (I did. :):

Going forward, let's see if you can get one of the following up and running:
1. Can you access https://pixlr.com/ on your Chromebook?
2. Can you download to a home computer the GIMP program? (https://www.gimp.org/)
3. On a home computer, are you able to access Adobe Creative Cloud with your TTSD account? If so, you might be able to access Photoshop.

Don't stress about what program is available. The goal is to be able to have one of them, or something eventually, that will work for our purposes this spring. 

Remember, because everyone is likely to have different tech circumstances, the projects will be basic, with the expectation that you do something with what you've got. Not a perfect situation, but that's OK for now.

SYLLABUS WHAT IS GRAPHIC ART/DESIGN?  Digital Art 1  is designed to be an introduction to the  digital arts.   You will have opportunities to learn  design industry skills  such as  illustration, drawing, graphic design  and  typography, animation, and photo manipulation .  You will gain an understanding for how to use file formats for output devices such as web, color printing, 3D printing, laser cutting, and vinyl cutting.   Most importantly, you will learn how to generate ideas and learn the key components of creative problem solving which can be used in a wide variety of careers. 'SCAPES 1-3

WHAT IS DUE . 'SCAPE 1:  A Landscape with only land elements  (combine FOUR+ land elements) 'SCAPE 2:  A landscape that incorporates and integrates (through careful selection/erasing/cloning) six or more  animal/humans/object elements 'SCAPE 3:  A 'scape that is entirely of your own creation  (three+ added elements).  This can be a cityscape, landscape, surreal scape, dream scape...it does not need to grounded in reality. Odd, unexpected, surprising are good.  *A total of THREE  separate Photoshop designs/composites will need to be created to be scored.  **Total points possible: 12 (4 points per 'scape) RATIONALE  (WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?) To practice and focus skills in Photoshop regarding  layers ,  placing/rasterizing , adjusting  color/value ,  edit+transforming  selections,  selection  tools. THE THREE IMAGES. Create  THREE  separate  'scape  composite images. Use very high-resolution images (1000x1000 minimum) from image searches. See links below.
